What are the Gaudí Awards?
The Gaudí Awards are an initiative of the College of Film Directors of Catalonia, from the Barcelona Awards.
The Catalan Film Academy organizes and awards the prizes annually in order to disseminate and promote the best films, artists and technicians in the Catalan film industry.
Its main objective is to equip them with the prestige and seal of other similar prizes existing in Europe and around the world, promoting them through the Academy, which is the institution that brings together professionals from the sector, academics, who will vote and decide the annual awards.
RITUAL
Until the day of the Gaudí Awards gala arrives, several activities and parallel events are carried out, such as:
- The act of reading and nominations takes place in La Pedrera
- The Minister of Culture receives the winners of the awards at the Palau de la Generalitat, the day after the gala.
- The major of Barcelona, acts as host in the “family photo” of the Gaudí nominees in the Palauet Albéniz de Montjuïc. Likewise, public homage is paid to the new members of Honor of the Catalan Film Academy
